Each year, the affiliated society hosting the GCAGS Annual Convention dedicates the published Transactions to someone, usually a member of that society, to honor them for their outstanding contributions to the society and to GCAGS. Neither the GCAGS Awards & Nominations Committee nor the Board of Directors play any role in the selection of the honoree.
The Transactions Dedication can be made to one or more people, although it is most commonly made to only one individual. The Dedication can be made either to a living person or in memory of a deceased person.
In addition to the written dedication published in the front of the Transactions, the honoree, or the honoree’s family if the honoree is deceased, is presented with a plaque at the Awards Ceremony during the convention.
