2025 GCAGS Journal Call for Papers
GCAGS Journal • Open Access • Fast Track
The GCAGS Journal, the Journal of the Gulf Coast Association of Geological Societies, is soliciting manuscripts for the 2025 edition (our 14th volume). This peer-reviewed journal focuses on publishing geology studies of the onshore and offshore Gulf of Mexico. Additionally, we are looking for manuscripts describing the innovative use of technology in geosciences, carbon capture (CCUS), geomechanics, geothermal energy, and energy minerals. As always, we encourage oil and gas field studies.
We are moving to a year-round submission process with papers published online immediately after completion of the acceptance and proof process. All articles published in a given year are then bound into our hardcopy version.
Please email GCAGS Journal Editor Bob Merrill at rmerrill@catheart.com at any time indicating your intention to submit a manuscript. We no longer require submission of an initial extended abstract. For inclusion in the 2025 volume, please contact the Editor no later than May 1, 2025, with manuscript submission no later than July 1, 2025. Submissions after that date are still allowable and may be published in the 2025 volume if review/publication process is completed before year’s end.
GeoGulf (GCAGS/GCSSEPM) Convention presentations of Journal submissions are encouraged but not required—abstract deadline for GeoGulf 2025 is December 1 (visit geogulf2025.org for convention abstract submission). There is a page charge of $40 per page. Underfunded groups may request partial or full waiver of page fees.
Please visit www.gcags.org for open access to all of our 13 previous volumes, including our 2024 volume.
The GCAGS Journal, a peer-reviewed journal published yearly by the Gulf Coast Association of Geological Societies, is soliciting for associate editors. You would manage the peer-review process for 1 to 3 manuscripts submitted for publication in the GCAGS Journal. Ideally, associate editors will contribute their local knowledge and expertise to the editorial process. If you are interested in being an Associate Editor for the GCAGS Journal, please contact Bob Merrill at rmerrill@catheart.com.
